If you think last year’s The International total price pool of nearly 11 million is a lot,  wait until you see the total prize pool for this year. According to Dota Price Pool Tracker, the current price pool amount stands at over 15 million USD  and it is still growing. This tournament is the largest in e-Sports, but not just e-Sports itself. If you compare with the other sports, for example the latest Golf Masters 2015 which was held on April, solely by the prize pool of 10 millions USD it has loose out by 5 million USD to The Internationals.

The price amount do not just grow simply by asking Dota 2 fans to donate to the ’cause’, but instead money is raised similar to a crowdfunding method through a sales percentage  of The Compendium. The Compendium is an in-game virtual book that players can buy and level up either through game play or by spending more money, which in return will provide special items and unlock-ables. 25% of all Compendium sales will go into this prize pool. From the current trend for this year it is expected to reach around 16 million USD or more.
